WHAT'S THE PLAY ABOUT?
Harvey Wilson is overlooked at work, pitied by his best friend, and invisible to the woman he admires – until a dream reveals the world will end in one year. As the clock ticks down, Harvey embarks on a journey of wild adventures, heartbreaking loss, helping others, and unexpected love. Both tender and thought-provoking, When the World Ends shows that sometimes it takes an ending to truly begin to live.
WHO IS DIRECTING?
Our production of Freddie Parks’ When the World Ends, winner of the 2025 New Play Festival People’s Choice Award, will be directed by Beth Lytle.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
TCTC seeks male and female actors of all ethnicities, ages 30-70 for this production.
WHAT ROLES ARE AVAILABLE?
HARVEY (Male, 30s-50s) - Lacks confidence. Fatalistic, but fundamentally a good guy.
LARRY (Male, 30s-50s) – Harvey’s loud and slightly obnoxious friend who likes to party.
JILLIAN (Female, 30s-50s) – Harvey’s crush; girl-next-door. Polite. Pleasant. Strong.
BETTY (Female, any age) – Harvey’s quirky “guardian angel” - Playful and enigmatic
SUE (Female, 40s-60s) – Harvey’s hard-nosed, impatient boss.
ENSEMBLE (Any gender, 20s-60s) – Five to seven actors to play all background roles, functioning as Greek chorus and stage crew. Crucial roles to the show.
WHERE WILL AUDITIONS BE HELD?
All auditions and rehearsals will be in person at the Tyler Civic Theatre.
WHAT SHOULD I PREPARE FOR THE AUDITION?
Auditions for When The World Ends will be held by “cold reading,” so there’s nothing to prepare, but familiarity with the show can be helpful.
As this is a new (unpublished) play, you’re welcome to call us at 903-592-0561 to make an appointment to stop by the Theatre during our regular office hours to read the script prior to auditions.
WHEN WILL REHEARSALS BE HELD?
Rehearsals will begin Monday, July 20th and will generally run Monday-Thursday 6-9 PM, with a couple of Friday and weekend rehearsals. Adjustments may be made according to the needs of the cast.
WHAT DATES WILL THE SHOW RUN?
Production dates are August 27-30, 2026.
