TCTC is pleased to announce selection of the troupe of young actors who will represent the theater in London and Paris in August 2011. Under the direction of Felicity Enas, the Troupe is rehearsing two pieces: Poe's Midnight Dreary and BabarBabar is in conjunction with an exhibit to be mounted by the Tyler Museum of Art, all in cooperation with Young Audiences of Northeast Texas. To book performances of Babar for your organization, contact Young Audiences at education@yanetexas.org.  To book performances of Poe, contact education@tylercivictheatre.com.

Ms. Enas and TCTC's education director, DeAnna Hargrove, will lead the Troupe. Its 2011 activities will include a workshop at the Globe Theatre in London, seeing plays in Paris and London's West End and at Stratford, and presenting Poe and Babar. These young actors follow in the footsteps of the 2007 London Troupe and the 2009 United Kingdom Troupe, which performed in London and Edinburgh.

The 2011 London/Paris Troupe includes Hannah Jacobson of Big Sandy, Lexie Rains of Flint, Ryan Castner and Justin Purser of Lindale, Katie Cargill and Ryan Cargill of Mineola, Brandon Jackson of New London, Hillary Umholtz of Overton, and Brianna Beard, LeeAnna Burgdorf, Kailey Cotter, Abigail Greene, Hannah Johnson, Zane Liston, Lisa Morgan, Hunter Regian, Kendall Rhodus, and Katie Simms, all of Tyler.

Members of the 2009 U.K. Troupe (pictured above) beam after their most recent achievement: four certificates of "pass with distinction" (the highest level) for their group acting performances before Helen Williams, examiner (also pictured above, standing, center) from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). Certificates may be viewed by clicking here.

Miss Williams spent three days at TCTC hearing candidates in group acting, solo acting, mime, devise, public speaker, and musical theater. Only the groups receive their rating immediately; the other candidates will learn of their results by mail from LAMDA's London offices. TCTC will schedule a presentation when it has received the results.

Three independent contractors have committed a percentage of their profits to the Troupe.  Contact Traci Runge at runges@suddenlink.net to purchase Arbonne all-natural health and wellness products. These young persons will present The Mark Twain Story in the Rogers as the third show of the 2008/2009 season and perform it during August 2009 in the King’s Head Theatre, London, and a venue in Edinburgh, Scotland.  The play is adapted by Kathryn Schultz Miller from the writings of the American sage Samuel Clemens, better known by his pen name, Mark Twain.  Added scenes will feature Roger Miller songs from his musical Big River, based on the adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

Written in five stand-alone segments, The Mark Twain Show is available for touring.  To book all five segments or any one of them for your school, club, church, festival, or other event, please contact DeAnna Hargrove, the director, at education@tylercivictheatre.com.  The players are prepared to work on either a proscenium stage or in-the-round.  The next appearances of the full Troupe will be February 20-28 and March 1 in the Rogers Children's Theatre at TCTC, followed by a performance on Saturday, May 9, at the Cherokee Civic Theatre in Rusk.
